The Council for Geoscience (CGS) has announced the appointment of Mr Mosa Mabuza as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The announcement was made this morning by the Chairperson of its Board, Dr Humphrey Mathe. The position was occupied by Mr Simon Sikhosana until his retirement in November 2016. Mabuza was subsequently seconded to the CGS by the Department of Mineral Resources to act as its interim CEO until the position was permanently filled. During his tenure on this role, he has managed to reprioritize geological mapping by championing the refocus of the organization towards a geo-scientific programme that seeks to map South Africa at a scale of 1: 50 000. This appointment comes into effect immediately.
