Used as a primary testing ground for the integration of multidisciplinary geoscience skills and training.
The Griqualand West project is composed of six tasks, with the largely overlapping 1:50 000-scale target areas to be covered by geological mapping and other tasks. This coordinated and streamlined approach takes cognizance of the interconnectivity of the various disciplines in the Council for Geoscience. Therefore, the project is being used as a primary testing ground for the integration of multidisciplinary geoscience skills and training, development and skills transfer. Modern techniques and skills are used to build a base of skilled scientists at the organisation who can aid with informed decision making and the provision of insight for future developments and the optimal use of land.
